Strategic Partnerships for Peace

The Women’s Situation Room, through the Eminent Women, engages key electoral actors to advance its goal of peace before, during and after elections in Uganda.

Communication for Peace

WSR Uganda conducts multimedia campaigns to advocate for non-violent and peaceful elections among the electorate.

Commitment to Peace

WSR Uganda uses Peace Cloths that are signed by several stakeholders as a written commitment to advocate for and promote peaceful elections. These include; presidential candidates, leaders of political parties, heads of observer missions, ambassadors, heads of UN missions in Uganda, international development partners, civil society organisations, the media and general public.

The Physical Rooms

During the Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Elections, WSR Uganda establishes Physical Situation Rooms where intervention and mediation by the Eminent Women take place, supported by political, legal, gender and security analysts. The Rooms include a 24- hour call centre with young volunteers who receive and record incident reports made to the widely advertised toll-free line and forward these to the Eminent Women for action. Strategic partners’ desks are also a key component of the Rooms, and include a desk for the Electoral Commission, Uganda Police Force (UPF) and the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF).
